Whenever I say "About," people ask me if I am from Canada.

It's true.  I am from Canada.  I harbor many fond memories of Woodstock, Ontario.  Born and raised in Canada by American immigrant parents, high school in Iowa as an immigrant myself, back to Canada for college/career/early family, back to North Carolina for the past thirty years.

I've worked as a furniture restorer, a commercial beekeeper, a journalist, a traveling salesman, a studio artist, a maker of bio-diesel, an author of books, a real estate developer, and a distiller.  Probably what I am best at is picking up the trash.

I've had four children, two marriages, two grandchildren, and a lot of life.  Lost my brother, lost a son, lost my parents, so include a lot of "loss."  I have two brothers left in Canada who I adore.  We would all consider ourselves "close."

I think it is hard to write an "About" page.  Much too daunting.

Instead, let's focus on the photograph.  It was taken by my friend Kelly Breed when we visited in Palm Springs.  Kelly is old school.  Film camera.  You can't find him on Facebook.  We were journalists together.  In high school.

When my aunt Boo Boo saw this picture she told me it had "all the charm of an unmade bed."  Thanks, Boo Boo.  Thanks Kelly.

As much as I would like to say, "Enough about me," I can't.  Because this is my website, where the "me" never ends...
